VoIP (i-BOX Local Phone) is a groundbreaking high technology in telephone
communications. It stands for Voice Over Internet
Protocol. In essence, VoIP technologies use the
Internet as a phone line, allowing you to make a
telephone call that is in fact a data transmission.
What this means to the average user is the ability
to make a call from the same telephone number from
anywhere in the world, for a flat rate. Since you
can simply plug your VoIP-enabled telephone into any
high-speed Internet connection, you can be
accessible at the same telephone number whether you
are in Washington, DC or Tokyo, Japan. This means
that people can make local calls to your VoIP number
from home, even if you are halfway around the word.
Can I
keep my current ISP (Internet Service
Provider) and existing phone numbers?
Yes. As long as you have broadband and
not dial-up service subscription. Your
email or internet access is unaffected.
To keep existing local phone numbers
please download the form
"Letter
Of Authorization"
For more details please contact with our
customer service.
What
happens when I change service providers for
my broadband?
VoIPservice is not directly
associated with your broadband Internet
service provider. But if your i-box
Partner also provides your broadband
connection you may be receiving a
preferred rate for the bundled service
package. If you switch broadband
providers that rate may be lost and your
combined services may be more costly
your current service package.
Do I need
a static IP to use the service?
You do not need a static IP address for
the service to work. Any of the devices
can obtain an IP dynamically from your
ISP.
Can I use
my VoIP phone from anywhere?
Yes. Your
VoIPphone can be accessed from
anywhere broadband DSL/Cable in the World, not
just your home. It replaces the need for
any calling cards from and to anywhere
in the world.
One thing to make note of is 911
services are only available in North
America and calls to 911 will show the
call coming from the address you signed
up for service with
"*911
Note" .
I have
more than one phone can I use the i-box from
any of them?
A simple solutiong is to purchase a
common “telephone splitter” that plugs
into the RJ-11 “Phone” port on the
VoIPdevice. From this splitter you
can branch multiple telephones into the
VoIPPhone unit.
If there
is no dial tone or bad quality, what should I do?
VOIP service is its reliance upon
another separate service - an internet
connection. The quality and overall
reliability of the phone connection is
entirely reliant upon the quality,
reliability, and speed of the internet
connection which it is using.
Shortcomings with internet connections
and Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
can cause a lot of grief with VOIP
calls. Higher overall network latencies
can lead to significantly reduced call
quality and cause certain problems such
as echoing.
A couple things you can try:
1. Doulble check to see if the
unit has Internet by checking the
ethernet cables for connectivity then
log into the units web interface to see
if an IP address has been obtained from
your ISP.
2. Try power cycling the unit by
unplugging its power adapter and
plugging it back in.
If you are still unable to receive a
dial tone, contact a technical
representative from Huatone for further
assistance.
3. Unplug the power to your modem.
This is the box from your cable or DSL
provider.
Unplug the power to your router. If you don't have one
skip this step.
Unplug the power to your VOIP phone adapter.
Wait 10 minutes.
1) Plug in your VOIP phone adapter and
wait until you have a dial tone on your
phone again.
2) Plug in your router and wait until
the lights stabilize or the router has
started up. (Usually takes about 30
seconds)
3) Plug in your modem and wait for
lights to stabilize on a specific
pattern. (Usually takes about 1 minute)
Can I make emergency
calls?
Yes. The nature of IP makes it difficult
to geographically locate network users.
The caller must provide a physical
address when calling emergency services
